This contemporary three bedroom home combines functionality with form. Completed in 2013 it was the second Certified Passive House in New Zealand. It has been designed to sit towards the southern boundary of the section creating space for gardens and easy indoor/outdoor flow. The owner being a keen gardener requested a rain water harvesting system to keep the garden thriving through the Wairarapa summers. The mono pitch roof also efficiently protects the garden from the strong Wairarapa winds. Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) was used for the wall construction system sitting on an insulated concrete pad with fibreglass insulation in the roof. The triple glazed uPVC window joinery was manufactured in Germany by Energate and directly imported by eHaus for the project.
