This talk will be relevant to Builders and Tradespeople and Passive House enthusiasts.

This discussion will explain what is a ‘Lock-In Effect’ and why it is important for the long term function of a building. We note why this is particularly significant for foundations and concrete slab on grade constructions.

We will look at common foundation system options and the factors that need to be considered when choosing a system. Discussion of the various materials commonly used and how to improve thermal performance and reduce embodied carbon.

We also examine some proprietary systems, useful elements and features that should be used in all new buildings not just Passive Houses.
