Not all Passive House projects are created equal. Some sites push every system — and every designer — to their limits.
Whāriki is the retrofit of a former commercial warehouse in inner-city Wellington into a multigenerational home, targeting Certified Passive House Classic and EnerPHit. The site came with a long list of constraints: highway noise, fire boundaries, flood risk, contaminated ground, and a resource consent with teeth. Meeting Passive House performance standards was only part of the challenge.
In this webinar, Guy Shaw and Richard Walklin share how they navigated overlapping regulatory frameworks, made the HVAC work within a tight urban envelope, and kept the building performing as designed. Expect honest discussion of what worked, what didn’t, and what they’d do differently.
