Nearing completion, this barn style two-storey new home is constructed from German oak and locally made structural insulated panels (SIPS) and tripled glazed windows, doors and a large glass curtain wall. The project uses many common passive house building components, but also many rarely used in New Zealand such as motorised external venetian blinds, 3D profile timber cladding, shower waste water heat recovery and smart energy management. Many of the build team involved in the project have been invited to be involved in the Open Day, so it is an excellent opportunity to learn more about Passive House and ask the team questions.
