PLAN B is an architectural practice based in Ōtautahi Christchurch, working on new buildings and deep energy retrofits across Aotearoa New Zealand. The practice is led by Ben Frost, a Certified Passive House Designer and Homestar Assessor with over twenty-five years of experience both here and overseas.

A good building looks after the people who live and work in it. It’s warm in winter, comfortable in summer, and a pleasure to spend time in year-round. It’s dry, quiet, and healthy to breathe in. It costs less to run than you would expect, and is light on the world around it. It keeps doing its job for generations to come, not just the day the keys are handed over.

Every project is shaped by its site, the climate, budget, and the client’s goals. Each design begins with the ordinary – how buildings sit in the landscape, how light moves through them, how they are put together – and runs through to low-carbon, high-performance, and Passive House design when a project calls for it.
