This EnerPhit renovation is a 2-storey 4-bedroom 345-sqm house on an elevated site on Auckland’s West Coast, facing west with expansive views of Piha and Lion Rock. EnerPhit has been developed for refurbishments of existing buildings as it is not always possible to achieve full Passive House standard like it is for new constructions. EnerPhit is the Quality-Approved Energy Retrofit with Passive House Components Certificate.

The idea of multi-generational living became the starting point for the Legacy Project. Family comes first is the basis of this build. There are three sets of clients made up of active parents and the growing families of their two children. They want to live in their own houses that also allow for daily interaction. Their brief is to build four apartments on a 650sqm site which includes a rental unit.

This 660 square metre, 3-storey home in Cockle Bay, Auckland is designed and built to Passive House standards and is on track to meet certification. This project is still under construction, with the external cladding currently in progress, giving the perfect opportunity to showcase the design and construction details required for a Passive home.

It may be small at only 55m2, but there are many things we love about our wee office. We always wanted to create not just a space to take work away from the “home office” but a space that would be open, welcoming, interesting and showcase some of the things we love, like SIP’s, timber and simply showing practically the benefits of building Better Homes. Going through the process of the design review, conducted by Jason Quinn at Sustainable Engineering, has been the most invaluable part of the experience. Instructions: The access to the property is via Speargrass Flat then the North side of Slopehill Road – Google maps sometimes sends people to the wrong Slopehill Road (there are two). If you come via the Slopehill Road which comes off Lower Shotover Road you will not be able to get here. So come via Speargrass Flat/Slopehill Road.
