Private individual and website creator about alternative energy who discovered Passive House design as part of building the website. Wanting to achieve that sort of standard in a future home we travelled to Aachen, Germany for the Passivhaus International conference a few years ago, visiting homes and public buildings as part of it. We also check out the Energy Plus builds of Rolf Disch in Freiburg.
Having intended to build a passive house home on land we had but then having to move on, we want to build our long term home with these concepts. On the way we aim to create part of a barn on the site into a temporary dwelling which will follow passive house standards. Currently renting a new build home built to current code we know we have to have better energy management in any home we own.

Hector Egger New Zealand is the new Cromwell based joint venture business formed between Swiss company Hector Egger Holzbau AG and local Queenstown based partners, Tristan Franklin and Stephan Mäusli. Hector Egger Holzbau AG has 20 years’ experience in offsite manufacturing of timber elements and panels, with three ISO 9001 certified factories operating in Switzerland. Construction is currently underway on the new 3,500m2 Cromwell factory and office building, with completion scheduled for the end of Oct 2020 and manufacturing starting Jan 2021.
Hector Egger New Zealand is replicating the same IP and processes as our Swiss partners and will specialise in the manufacture of high-tech timber elements and prefabricated timber panels (external and internal walls, ceiling and floor) for residential and commercial building construction. Our panelised system is either engineered to meet NZ code or designed to be fully compliant with NZS 3604 building standards. It is faster to completion, less expensive and higher quality when manufactured offsite. This solution can be used equally well across stand-alone houses, medium density developments, multi-storey apartments, schools and commercial buildings. A 150m2 family home will take approximately 6-8 weeks in design and engineering per typology, 3 days factory manufacture and 3 days on site installation to weathertight envelope. We provide fixed pricing for the manufacture and installation of our timber panels and elements.

Kia Ora, my passion is high performance housing. Access to warm, draught free and earthquake resilient housing should be the right of every New Zealander. Houses built today should still be relevant in 30 years time.
It’s become my mission to change the way we design and build homes in Aotearoa. This is why I’m a Bronze member of PHINZ, on the Executive of Superhome Movement, why I led the production of The Healthy Home Design Guide, and why I have created The Healthy Home Cooperation.
Housing is about people. People working together in cooperation to provide Healthy Homes for people to live in.
Whether it is to make a difference for a family in a single house, a housing community or to change legislation, we all need to work jointly towards the same end, which is to achieve significant change.
Give me a call on 0273481110 to see how we can cooperate to design and build you a healthy resilient home.
