Bob Burnett Architecture has been an advocate for energy-efficient, environmentally sound architecture for two decades. Designing and building his own demonstration projects to create awareness for the community and industry about high performance design and construction. He wants to help people understand the link between New Zealand’s suboptimal building code standards, that are around 20 years behind other OECD countries and alarming health and wellbeing statistics. In 2015 Bob founded the Superhome Movement and co-founded Quakestar rating system after the Christchurch earthquakes. Recently Bob received the Sustainability Superstar award by Sustainable Business Network.

Geotechnical & Structural Engineers
We design resilient structures to support High Performance housing right across New Zealand.
We understand what is required to avoid thermal bridging and will go the extra mile to ensure standards are met or exceeded.
We prefer to work collaboratively with the home owner, designer and builder to ensure that both the design and construction process is as efficient as possible.
Under the combined leadership of Chris Deroles and Registered Master Builders Brad Nieuwkoop and Warren Dunn, this expert trio bring a wealth of knowledge and experience in business, building, and passive house technology to the Central Lakes region.
Since 2013, Warren has grown eHaus Manawatu, creating a covetable portfolio of completed projects that are a testament to the efficacy of building – and living – a passive lifestyle.
Collectively, Brad and Warren have 55 years’ combined experience in the building industry, while Chris, who comes in at a Director level, has more than 40 years of business expertise in addition to intimate knowledge of the Central Lakes region.
With climate extremes (very hot summers and extremely cold winters) building the PassivHaus way in Central Lakes is an ideal solution for achieving a more balanced, comfortable home environment without the high use of energy that is currently required by the New Zealand building code.

Kia Ora, my passion is high performance housing. Access to warm, draught free and earthquake resilient housing should be the right of every New Zealander. Houses built today should still be relevant in 30 years time.
It’s become my mission to change the way we design and build homes in Aotearoa. This is why I’m a Bronze member of PHINZ, on the Executive of Superhome Movement, why I led the production of The Healthy Home Design Guide, and why I have created The Healthy Home Cooperation.
Housing is about people. People working together in cooperation to provide Healthy Homes for people to live in.
Whether it is to make a difference for a family in a single house, a housing community or to change legislation, we all need to work jointly towards the same end, which is to achieve significant change.
Give me a call on 0273481110 to see how we can cooperate to design and build you a healthy resilient home.

Private individual and website creator about alternative energy who discovered Passive House design as part of building the website. Wanting to achieve that sort of standard in a future home we travelled to Aachen, Germany for the Passivhaus International conference a few years ago, visiting homes and public buildings as part of it. We also check out the Energy Plus builds of Rolf Disch in Freiburg.
Having intended to build a passive house home on land we had but then having to move on, we want to build our long term home with these concepts. On the way we aim to create part of a barn on the site into a temporary dwelling which will follow passive house standards. Currently renting a new build home built to current code we know we have to have better energy management in any home we own.
Both Mat and Caroline were born and raised in rural Waikato, New Zealand. Mat began his carpentry apprenticeship in Hamilton and once qualified started his own business in the Te Awamutu / Cambridge area. He took on many types of building projects from new home builds and renovations to school upgrades and light commercial work.
After Caroline was offered a job in Auckland, they decided to make the most of the opportunity and made the move to central Auckland city. Within a short time, Mat had re-established his business and formed a strong team of qualified builders. He enhanced his skill base by taking on projects like historical villa and bungalow restorations and the re-build of leaky homes, all while juggling confined work spaces, restricted site access and traffic!
While enjoying their life in the city, both Mat and Caroline couldn’t shake their affiliation to rural New Zealand and spent most of their free time back in the Waikato and Taupo region. Once children came along, they decided to move to Taupo and back to family and friends and enjoying the great outdoors!

His drive, quality workmanship and commitment to the job evident in every build.
DB&R have chosen to align themselves with eHaus as they truly believe they are the world leaders in redefining the way we live. eHaus encompasses Micky and Tash’s objectives to change and refine the current building scene, hence becoming the eHaus Marlborough license holders.
